Many people struggle with coming up with ideas in the first place. But for me, it was the complete opposite.
A jumble of ideas wandered through my mind, and I could envision each one of these ideas turning into an amazing and successful passion blog. For me, the difficulty was narrowing down my ideas from dozens to just two. I don't know if that's because of my wide variety of interests or if it's just because I enjoy researching and writing about things that I like. In any case, here are the two passion blog topics that I'm most interested in writing about over the course of this semester:

As a meteorology major, I obviously love the weather - some may call me a "weather weenie." I've wanted to become a meteorologist since I was seven, so I've been fascinated by severe weather events and about weather predictions for a long time.

I'm also a huge sports fan in my free time, paying particular attention to baseball, football, college football, hockey, and college basketball. Similar to the weather, there's always some new major development in the sports world on a daily basis.

Now I must narrow my ideas down even further: from two to one. And this will be the most difficult decision yet.

At my high school, we had a guy in our class who was known as the weather guy. He created a twitter account specifically to track weather and we would all demand his prediction on if we would have a snow day. So when you mention maybe creating a weather blog, I think that idea is amazing! It would be very reminiscent for me and I think people would find this concept intriguing, as I know literally my whole school did. I also like the sports idea, although admittedly I don't follow sports very much. Of course most people are, so I think this idea works well. Would you write about both MLB and NFL, or just focus on one sport?
ReplyDeleteIf I did the sports blog I think I would have to write about both the MLB and NFL since the MLB playoffs end at the end of October, but the semester continues until December. I could use these other months to talk about the NFL and college football.
DeleteThanks for your feedback!
I think a blog focused on meteorology would be really interesting and shed a lot of light on current major weather events. Since there is almost always something happening around the world, whether it's another catastrophic hurricane or flooding right here in Pennsylvania, I think this topic would be easy to develop into five posts.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI like the idea for "World of Weather" a lot but I am unsure of what you plan on doing with it. Would it be a weekly weather update or would you go deeper into the parts of weather that non weather weenies tend to be unfamiliar with. If you do decide to go with the sports route I would love to hear about what you think the future of football is and whether or not there will be a time when the health impacts are too severe to have football be apart of our society. Also, with everything that has happened regarding Kaepernick I think it would be interesting if you could write about why sports are so important as a platform for political activism and why athletes should not be restrained to their profession.
Please explain the irrational weather patterns of state college. It's September and it already feels like thanksgiving. The meteorology blog would be an amazing idea.
ReplyDeleteWe have a trough centered over PA that's bringing cooler air from the north down our way making it feel unseasonably cool. The average high temperature for this time of year should be 76, but we've only been making it into the mid-60s as of late. Don't expect a warm up in the next week or so either, so keep that sweatshirt handy!
